Nikon D7000 DSLR Uses 16MP Sony Sensor

Chipworks teardown of Nikon D7000 mid-range DSLR reveals that it uses Sony IMX071 sensor. The 16.2MP sensor has 4.8um pixels.

  1. It has also been widely speculated that this is the same sensor as the a-55 and the Pentax k-5. It would be nice to see confirmation of this. If so, the IMX071 is a very popular sensor this year. I find the image quality of my D7000 to be excellent.
